PORTA CUSD 202 will have three (3) four-year seats available on our seven-member Board of Education. The seats will be filled following the April 6, 2021 election. Candidates who are elected will fill four-year terms expiring in April 2025.
To be eligible to serve as a school board member you must be, on the date of election, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age, a registered voter and a resident of the State of Illinois and PORTA School District 202 for at least one year immediately preceding the election.
Candidates for the office of school board can begin to circulate nominating petitions for signatures beginning September 22, 2020. For more information, you may want to consult the "2021 Candidate's Guide," which can be downloaded at www.elections.il.gov/main/publications.aspx?

Member Seats who will be open for the April 2, 2021 election include Robert "Toby"Turek and Jeremy Garner who both reside in T18NR7N leaving two of the three seats in this district vacant, the other seat is currently held by Chris Henderson. Additionally, the board seat occupied by Jeff Smith, who resides in T18NR8W will also be open for election. Members whose terms will expire in 2023 include Kevin Bettis and Brandy Zanger who reside in T18NR6W and Jeff Schoneweis who resides in T18N R8W. Other than the district that members Bettis and Zanger reside, all other voting districts will have no more than 1 of the three possible seats taken for the upcoming April election.
