We are please to provide an update on changes occurring in our State in regards to Athletics. The Governor’s office and IDPH announced today regions who are in phase 4 mitigation level are effectively open for athletic competition. Districts are awaiting information from the IHSA on scheduling and timing of various athletic programs as a result of this unexpected announcement. The PORTA District will likely have information on the available activities and their schedules by the middle of next week. We would encourage everyone to continue practicing safe practices, such as facemask wearing and social distancing as we move forward so that our region can remain in phase 4 and will continue to offer our students access to the activities they love.
We are encouraged that we may begin to see a more concerted effort to vaccinate staff as part of the 1b vaccination group. As we progress through the series of two vaccinations for our staff we would anticipate more opportunities for change for our district and those in the surrounding areas.
